Peacefully at Parkwood Palliative Care Unit, Jean Kathleen Wilkins entered into rest on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in her 94th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Wilkins (2022) for 65 years. Dearly loved mother of Mark (Karen Hughes) and Nancy (David Warren). Very proud grandmother of Keith (Jenna) and Meaghan Wilkins and John and Colin Warren. She had great affection for all her nieces and nephews: Stephen, Anne and Tom Playford and Carole, Faye, Jim, Richard and Lynne Wilkins and their families. Predeceased by her parents Mary and James Elliott, her siblings Margaret, Lorne (1933) and Mary (Allan Playford) and brother and sister-in-law Allan and Lois Wilkins.
Jean was born in Melfort, Sask on March 12, 1930. She moved with her family to Wiarton, Ontario in May, 1938. After three years in Wiarton, the family settled in Owen Sound. Jean loved to sing and sang in choirs most of her life. She sang in Presbyterian choirs in Wiarton and Owen Sound as a young girl. She sang in a choir with her nursing classmates while in training and with Anglican choirs in Dundas, Parry Sound and London.
Jean was a hard-working person in everything she did and had a generous nature. She was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Parkwood Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care of Jean. Donations may be made to the Parkwood Palliative Care Unit or the Humane Society of London and Middlesex.
