It was wonderful to sit down for a brief chat with Coach Clark last year at the South Reunion. Although we only had a few minutes since many were lining up to chat with him I couldn't believe he remembered some details of our year we came so close to being the senior football champions at JW Little Stadium. He also remembered a little drill we did in practice called "kitty bar the door" .. we would line up one on one a few yards apart and upon his command go hard trying to take the other guy out. I once came up against Dave "Night Train" Raithby .. I lost the first round but immediately coach said "line up again" .. as we were lining up again I heard him say "C'mon Hudson" .. not loudly but confidently. It gave me the confidence to take on Raithby.. head on. And it worked :) .. he was truly inspirational and I'll never forget that. He coached with confidence and could get riled up but always respected his players and we felt that. A great life lesson that has endured. Thanks Coach Clark for all you did for many of us. Rest in peace.

To the Clark family, from the Flynns.
We offer our condolences to Coach Clark. I was a transfer from CCH and Coach welcomed me and it was an honor to play football for him. He was a big part of my young life, played a bit of golf with him in Ingersoll and it was pure delight. He will be sorely missed.

Sorry to the Clark family for your loss. Rea was my hockey and football coach at South. Rea taught me a lot about both sports and I have a lot of great memories of Rea at South. Rest in peace Rea.

My deepest condolences to the Clark family.
Rae Clark was my football coach for three years 1972-1975. During our time together he showed incredible patience in teaching me the nuances of playing quarterback. Although we never had a championship team we did improve every year with his leadership.
I also remember our frequent badminton and basketball matches (horse). He would usually crush me in badminton but more times than not I would beat him in horse.
I also remember a few times we were summoned to his office on Monday morning. We were caught drinking at the Friday night dances and he expressed his disappointment in our poor behaviour as we were supposed to set an example for the other students.
On a personal note I lived across the street from the Clark family when they lived on Lyndhurst Place. I used to babysit for them when they used to go to dances or visit friends. On one particular occasion they just had a new baby maybe a couple weeks old and I was asked to babysit. They were just leaving and as they left they said they had just put the baby down and he would be asleep at least until they got back home. Those were their famous last words, no sooner had they left and the baby started crying and I tried everything to calm him down but nothing worked. I was at my wits end so I called my mother to come over and give me a hand. She was able to calm him down within a few minutes and all was well from then on.
I also remember the football team went up to the cottage, we had a great time other than nearly freezing to death, No matter how much wood I put on the fireplace I couldn’t get warm. I guess I’m not much of an outdoorsman.
I met Rae and Ron Reesor at the Ingersoll golf club 5-6 years ago and we had a brief chat. I hadn’t seen Rae in over 20 years. I wish I could have talked to them more but they were teeing off.
It’s funny calling Rae Clark, Rae as I always called him Mr. Clark or Coach. Coach had a tremendous impact on my life. He was always patient, humble and kind. In reading his obit I never knew all his achievements as he wasn’t the type of man to brag about such things. I remember if I threw an interception or screwed up a play he would calmly explain to me what I did wrong. He never yelled at me.
I wish I kept in touch with Coach Clark as he was one of the good guys in my life. It seems like only yesterday we were playing football at South.
It’s 50 years since I last walked the halls of South. Two of my teachers have now left this world Rae Clark and Glen McDonald May they both rest in peace. You will be missed by your families, students, friends and me. My life was so much better having met you, God Bless you.

I had the pleasure of working with Rae in two schools, Wheable and Banting. Rae demonstrated two great qualities. He was passionate about his craft, be it in the classroom, the gym, or in coaching. He was also passionate about his students. Those two qualities are a powerful combination, making Rae and inspiration to his kids and his colleagues. RIP, Rae.

I knew Rea through his years at Acadia where we both played hockey. In recent years when talking with classmates or fellow Axemen players I always commented that Rea was a terrific Axeman but was first of all a gentleman. He added much to our team. We were sometimes called upon to help him look for his contact lenses during a game and it became a joke about how many times we might need to do that. I was privileged to read the citation for Rea at his induction to the Honor Roll and it was very easy to recount his accomplishments. I found plenty to admire in him. Rea made a huge impact at Acadia. My condolences to his family.

Mr Clark as we called was my high school hockey coach at his first year at Banting. Me and a couple of other players convinced him to get us Cooperalls and from right then I knew that he was a players coach...He was alway trying to get the best out of us at all times..which at the time I didn't get but as the next few years I played for him I finally understood it. I played golf with Rea in Parry Sound at Jason's annual Brawler golf...and it was such awesome time to spend with him and reminisce with him..He often talked about his cottage and his family...he was so proud...My condolences to the family ...he will be missed by many...His impact on so many lives is unprecedented.....May his spirit continue to guide us and may cherished memories bring comfort during this time of loss.
