Obituary of Carol Anne Creelman

Family and friends lost a beautiful soul on 15 February 2024 with the passing of Carol Anne Creelman (nee Archibald) after a lengthy battle with cancer. Carol was born in Truro, Nova Scotia on April 12, 1944 the fourth of five children born to Dollarine (Burrows) and Edwin Archibald. She is survived by husband Franklyn (Frank), son, Kevin (Colleen); daughter, Lisa (Don Gough); her grandchildren, Ethan Creelman, Genevieve and Cassandra Gough; brother Gary (Judi) Archibald and sister, Sheila (George) McLane as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, with a special mention to long time friend Liz Palmer, Collingwood, Ontario. Besides Carol’s parents, she was predeceased by two siblings, Ronald Edward and Marilyn Bessie, who died in infancy.

Carol grew up and attended school in Truro, Nova Scotia. She worked as a hairdresser before marrying her high school sweetheart Franklyn. Carol and Frank then moved to Ontario where they raised their children and had a wonderful life of fifty-eight years together. Carol loved children and was a care-giver to a number of children over the years. Her passion, however, was always her own family. She dedicated her life to her children and then her grandchildren. She loved celebrating special days especially Christmas when family, friends and neighbors would receive one of her knitted colorful Christmas stockings containing treats. Carol took pride in decorating for each season and her home, inside and out, reflected her passion. She was an avid gardener and always looked forward to spring so she could begin planting beautiful flowering plants decorating the outside of her home. Carol was also a talented knitter all her life and family and friends have a cherished creation or two, or more, thanks to Carol’s talent. She also loved playing cards and any family get-togethers, in Ontario or Nova Scotia, included boisterous fun-filled card games with Carol’s competitive spirit coming through. Many teddy bears also resided in Carol and Frank’s home! Carol was humble to a fault and did not always see the bright light she was to those who knew her, both in Ontario and Nova Scotia. She looked forward to her visits to Truro each summer for over 50 years, especially spending time at the beach. Carol enjoyed music and Nascar racing, watching the Nascar races on TV with Frank as well as attending many races together over the years.

Family pets were always a part of Carol’s life and there was always a much loved, spoiled dog, or cat, in her life ~ she will be greatly missed by JJ. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit of Parkwood Hospital, London, for their wonderful care and support.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Affordable Funeral Options of Lambeth, Ontario. There will be no funeral by request and cremation has taken place with interment at a later time. A ‘Celebration of Life’ for Carol will take place in the spring. Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to ‘Cancer Research of Canada’.
