I am deeply saddened to learn of Keith's passing and especially so since I learned of it a year later. Keith and I were students in the Master of Art Conservation Program at Queen's. He was in the Painting stream and was a year ahead of me and so naturally I was in awe of him and all the more senior students. I got to know Keith better when we interned together at the ROM and again at the Canadian Conservation Institute on the Mobile Lab Program. I can still see us all in the Ethnology Lab competing to paint the smallest accession numbers on practice objects. I suspect I was the only one competing and Keith was just having fun. When I think of Keith the first thing that comes to mind is how funny he was. He was a consummate professional, but so very very funny. While serving together on the board of the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators Keith would make some comment that would have me in stitches. Good thing the meetings were held via teleconference.
Knowing what it is like to lose a dearly loved one much too soon, I wish Keith's family and friends peace, love and comfort. Keith's memory will stay alive in all our hearts and I know that he continues to laugh and see beauty.

I first met Keith when we were both conservation interns at CCI in early 1980's. Since that first meeting he has always been to me a kind, generous, witty colleague. Someone to share a good laugh and glass of wine with whenever our paths crossed over the . His bright spirit is taken far too soon from this earth. May he rest in peace and still enjoy a good laugh in his next chapter.years.He was a wonderful human being and I and many in the conservation community shall miss him greatly. My sincerest condolences to his family and many friends. Rest in peace Keith and continue to laugh long and loud in your next adventure.

Keith was a pleasure to work with and we feel so fortunate to have benefited from his expertise. He was capable of magic and as a result he was the first person to contact when an object could use some care. We'll miss his good nature and warmth. On behalf of the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, we offer our sincere condolences to all who held him dear.

Dear Uncle Keith,
I will always remember the first time you showed me one of your projects. Way to young to understand the meaning at the time but do now. Your a smart , tough ,humourous guy who kept charging no matter what. I wish you peace and comfort now. To Ruby and Sam, may you cherish the memories of your father as he was an amazing man. May his light shine in your hearts as it does for many. My Deepest Sympathies to you all.
Love Chantel MacIntyre Gustafson

This is such a loss to the community in that we were spoiled to have him in our midst. Keith was a consummate professional who generously shared his knowledge and, rather than see artworks languish, tried hard to assist small museums to maintain their collections. I never failed to learn something new from him during our conversations and will forever treasure our professional association.

Keith has been our neighbor for a few years and we will miss his talks, his sharing of his plants and the aroma of his BBQ fish and wine. So saddened by his passing, as our son Scott said" Keith is in heaven now, but will be in our hearts forever" Rest in Peace Keith.
