Janice Howell-Harries

Obituary of Janice Margaret Howell-Harries

Please share a memory of Janice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts that the family of Janice Howell-Harries (nee McIntyre) announces her passing on August 1, 2024.

Born and raised in London, Ontario, she was the devoted daughter of the late Jack & Margaret McIntyre.  Loving sister of Sam (Jackie) McIntyre, sisters-in-law Judi Helle, and May (Kevan) LeBlanc and brother-in-law Frank (Nancy) Howell-Harries and their families. Predeceased by brother, Eugene McIntyre (1940), and brother-in-law Bob Helle.

Janice’s journey through life was shared with her devoted husband Larry. To whom she spent nearly 60 years.  Together they raised their loving children, daughter Carrie and her husband Rob Hamilton, and son Brad and his wife Dawn Howell-Harries. Adored Grandma to Matthew Hay (Lindsay Soer), Brock & Olivia Howell-Harries, Leanna (Hamilton) & Greg Morrow, and Great Grandma to Myla Morrow.

Whether it be through her and Larry’s famous “pop-in” visits to their large extended family near and far or her love of a good trashy paperback, Janice’s life was a beautiful example of dedication to family and the pursuit of simple pleasures.  She will be sorely missed by her many cousins, extended family and friends, each of which held a special place in their heart and they hers.

Well known for her love of music, if given the opportunity Janice always enjoyed entertaining us by belting out a tune from her vast repertoire. Her outgoing and fun personality, coupled with a quick wit, made any good time even better by her presence.  Her smile, laugh and sound of her beautiful voice will be cherished and missed by us all.

Thank you to all of those who have reached out to Janice and her family over this trying time. Special mention to Mary Ann Campbell, for your love and support.

Thank you to the wonderful staff (Daniela, Barb, Munira, Vicki, Ellen) of the Palliative Care Unit, Parkwood Hospital. We are so grateful for the care and dignity you provided to Janice. To Dr. Baraa Achtar for your kindness and care. Special thank you to Jill, Music Therapist, you added joy to her last days, and we are forever grateful.

Cremation has taken place and a family interment at a later date to be held at Ivan Cemetery. Donations in memory of Janice may be made to Canadian Cancer Society (pancreatic cancer research) or to Parkwood Palliative Care
