Obituary of Karen Margaret Elaine Hughes
Suddenly and very unexpectedly on August 5th, 2024 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Karen M.E. Hughes passed away at the age of 83. Karen was surrounded by her 3 loving children. Karen is predeceased by her husband David (2019) and son Jeff (2016). Mother of Scott (Karen), Terri (Don Guest), and Michele. Grandma to Chris, Matthew (Brittany), Adam (Megan), Jeff and Emily. Great grandmother to Colton, Tyler, Jack and Benjamin.
Karen had a stroke in January of this year and after, a lengthy process of healing and rehab at Parkwood's Stroke Rehab Program. Karen left there walking with a walker and began her new journey at Carressant Care in St. Thomas.
Her family wish to thank the Stroke Rehab Program at Parkwood and the wonderful, caring staff at Carressant Care.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Parkinson's Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
