Just thinking back to olden times and thought of Eugene. He was my sweetheart at one time. I grew up in London on Oxford street, he lived on Wharncliffe Rd. if this is the same man?? I left Canada in 1946 but came back for a visit when I was 18. I have pictures of us together at that time. So many years ago.......
but sorry for your loss, it isn't easy to lose a spouse. Mine died in 2013 after 56 years of marriage. God bless, Grace Tarrant (Stone)

Dear Gail, I don't believe that we have met, but I grew up in London West and spent most of my time playing with his cousin Joanie and the Sanham girls ..ther houses were all in a row on Wharncliffe and We were around the corner on Oxford, Gene was my brother's age and they were always around teasing us younger kids. I am sorry that I was able to attend his memorial, so I sent my Husband, Doug Hogg, to pay our respects . Doug is a Retired Deputy Chief London Police force but knew Gene when he was coaching, Knights , I found boarding houses for them and we crossed each other's paths for at least one or two years. He was always a gentle man to be around !

Condolences to Gail and all family members. We are sorry to hear about the passing of Gene. He was one of the nicest men that I had the pleasure of meeting about 35 years ago. The last time I saw him was when my wife was in the hospital with a blood disorder and you and Gene were waiting in the hallway. When I looked his way he gave me that beautiful contagious smile that I will always remember. Our son Nathan always liked talking with Gene about his swing and golf game before he went to Kentucky for his golf scholarship. Gene was always there to help. RIP my friend.

Dear Gail and Family, words are inadequate at times such as these but be assured my thoughts and prayers are with you. Gene and I were charter members of the London Minor Hockey Association in 1950s and later longtime rivals as local players and coaches. We enjoyed a mutual admiration and respect for each other. I am truly sorry I cannot attend his funeral or celebration of life. Rest in peace old friend.

Always enjoyed his smiles, calm demeanour and sometimes "long" stories. Still have golf clubs he made me. Honour to know him

Gail, my condolences to you and your family. Gene and I were first cousins. Gene's mother and my mother were sisters. I had lived in Calgary for many years but moved to Summerland BC about 6 years ago. Unfortunately I had not talked to Gene for several years. My older sister Carol, who still lives in Ontario, is going to try and make the celebration of life.
Please take care,
Brian Wilkey
