MEYER, Olive (nee Baker)
Born November 23rd 1929 in Bedlington, Northumberland England.
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded with love by her children and grandchildren on Sunday, October the 9th, 2016. She was predeceased by her loving husband Werner Meyer (1975), and her three brothers and two sisters. Loving mother of Susan Alves (Alfred), London and Kincardine, and Paul Meyer (Linda), Coldstream. Adoring Grandma of Jennifer Bannon (Mark), Sarah Barylski (Aaron), Steven Alves (Andrea), Carolyn Langdon (Bob), Amberly Meyer (Dallas Lee), and Jeffrey Meyer (Michelle).
Loving "G.G. Olive" of eleven great-grandchildren.
Cherished sister-in-law of Brenda Baker and loving Auntie of several nieces and nephews both in Canada and England.
As a young woman, Olive joined the British Women's Land Army after WWII, where she met her future husband. They immigrated to London Ontario in 1958 with their two children. Olive resided within the Cherryhill apartment complex for thirty years. She enjoyed socializing with friends, whether it be on one of numerous casino bus trips or over a cup of tea at the Cherryhill Village Mall. Over the years Olive loved reading, knitting, playing the piano, being active, Coronation Street, and puzzles; however her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. A private celebration of Olive's life will be held with family. Interment of ashes to be placed beside her late husband at Forest Lawn Cemetery, at a later date. Special thanks to the caring staff at LHSC Cancer Clinic for their three years of attentive care. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. N. Hertzman, nurses and PSWs of the VON At Home Palliative Program for their wonderful and caring support. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the VON or McCormick Home Dementia Services. Olive enjoyed her tea with lots of milk, all day long. The following old English song, she would often sing that showed how often she liked to have " a cuppa tea" in one of her favourite cups. Even her great grandchildren would ask for "a cuppa tea".
A Nice Cup Of Tea
I like a nice cup of tea in the morning
For to start the day you see
And at half-past eleven
Well my idea of Heaven
Is a nice cup of tea
I like a nice cup of tea with my dinner
And a nice cup of tea with my tea
And when it's time for bed
There's a lot to be said
For a nice cup of tea.
