Peacefully with loving family by her side on January 1, 2018, Mary (nee Grundy) passed on at University Hospital in London Ontario.  Mary was the beloved sister-in-law to Tom Konopka and special Aunt to Susan, Scott, Michael and their families.  Mary now will be warmly embraced by her late husband Peter McCall and sister Dianne Konopka.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for many things.  She loved to work and was the ultimate planner/organizer which led to a successful career in communications and event planning.  She spent many years working for the Toronto Star, where she met Peter.  Her career led her to other opportunities at IAPA, The Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers.  In retirement, she began her own event planning business, volunteered in her free time at the Daily Bread in Etobicoke and on the board of directors for her condominium.

She was passionate and giving to family.  A dedicated wife to Peter for 38 years and best friend to her sister Dianne.  She spoiled her niece and nephews unabashedly throughout their lives.  This was also the case for her 3 dogs Rusty, Casey and Tobi.

Over her life, Mary developed a love for cottaging.  First, spending time at her childhood cottage near Pleasant Point and then at the cottage she and Peter built in Halliburton.  Many memories, laughs and friendships were formed over countless holidays, weekends and family celebrations near Sir Sam’s Inn.  Mary will be sadly missed but forever remembered by her family and friends.

Cremation has already taken place and a celebration of life will be had at a later date for family and close friends.  For those who wish, donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer of Canada or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada in memory of her 2 best friends Peter and  Dianne.
