Dear Mary and family,
I was shocked and saddened upon hearing of Dan’s death. Even though it’s been over 22 years since my first husband died, I remember what it feels like, and the feelings came rushing back. I fondly remember Dan from our University days. I feel at peace that all of his suffering is over, but sadness at the loss that you and your family and close friends must be feeling. I am coming to see you today to give you a big hug! Take care, my friend.❤️

I personally didn’t know Mr Leipala, but I consider myself a friend of Erik’s. Knowing how much Daniel meant to Erik and the special relationship he had with his dad my heart goes out to Erik and family at this time.

Mary, Maija, and Erik:
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this terrible time.
My childhood is full of countless memories of our families spending time together. Easters were always wonderful, in part because of Danny... his love of life and everything he did with enthusiasm, his gift of gab and skilled story telling, always wearing the perfectly brim curved ball cap, playing basetball and catch together, sharing our love of movies, playing card and trivia games, making his famous Finnish pancakes, never hearing the end of taking Maija and Erik to see White Men Can't Jump, his endless video/home movies of your vacations and the kids' accomplishments, seeing him douse every dinner with ketchup, plotting the best Easter egg hiding places, his falling into the coatrack, and so on. I will remember his love for, and his pride and joy in the three of you. Most of all, I will think of Danny with his huge toothy grin, the twinkle he always had in his eye, and his booming laugh.
