I will miss Ross and his hearty laugh and his always welcome "Yup" in his deep voice. Ross added true meaning to my being a volunteer with Special Olympics. I would see him from time to time at Knights hockey games and he always made time to say hello to me. He truly lived the Special Olympics motto which was "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt". Ross has now crossed the finish line. Rest in peace.

I started my career at Salvation Army in 1996. I worked with Ross from the beginning. Ross had made me love to go to work every day. Even when it was not my shift. Ross and I had many adventures to water parks(bingemans and Canada’s Wonderland) almost every holiday he spent at my house with my family. Ross came and spent every Christmas with my family (my moms and my in-laws!!) and enjoyed spending time with my mom, brother , all my cousins and uncle, grandma and my aunt Patti who he knew through the respite group and called her his g/f. Ross made me laugh day after day. His stubbornness was epic and there were quite a few very funny situations that when he just didn’t want to do something he knew he had to-he called on the Star Trek people to come get him (obviously it was not funny at the time) I actually painted his shared bathroom with the Star Trek theme of black space and the big enterprise ship I think it was called)as that was what he wanted.
It broke my heart when I could not work there any more due to injury. That was the end of my career in 2003 but I tried to keep in contact after moving to Toronto. Our phone conversations were ok but too sad. I had very rarely seen or heard Ross cry but he broke down -either about to cry or crying Every call so after a year of that it was too hard. My family (and in-laws) still talk about “our Ross” all the time. I have missed him so much all these years but knew wherever he was he would be snacking, relax’n (in his loving referred to as “Hugh Hefner robe”) and specific perfectly indented spot on the couch and watching his Star Trek. I had a short career but I couldn’t have spent my time with better friends like Ross and his roommates and co-workers. I am one of the very few people who can say that I never worked a day in my life (yes it was short but no complaints other then it was WAY too short)I couldn’t wait to get there to spend the day with the 4men and never Ever felt like it was a chore or job. I was so lucky to have had the privilege to be in his life and that I could assist him in his daily agenda’s.
Ross: I am deeply sorry I did not call you anymore. I didn’t want you to be embarrased when you got upset. I knew you were in a good home with good people and that is what I needed to know. You made my life better just by knowing you. Thank you for being apart of my family and please say hi to everyone up there. Grandma, uncle Steve, -they will welcome you with love and laughter aswell as your family of course. You will NEVER be forgotten. My kids know about you even though they have never met you. Pest in peace friend and please don’t go too overboard at the buffets up there...... then again there may not be yummy aches or gaining pounds up in heaven. Good bye friend. I miss you.
