I met Mr. Christopher in Winter 2019 as a student in his class and since that day until 10th of March 2020 last day before turning the teaching system into an online education we had a strong connection and we were like friends not even student and instructor. He was a joyful person surrounds you with positive atmosphere and peaceful teaching environment. We had things in common based on movies we share and also the taste of music. There’s alot to say but I was shocked when I received the news from my classmates. You are always loved and never forgotten. May you rest easy in grace and love.

A cake candle for the chef extraordinaire! I worked with Chris at Maritz and then followed him to Hotspex. He was such a great guy to work with but an even better guy to share stories with. Chris’ dating life kept us enthralled and in stitches with the way he would share his dating adventures with us. I can honestly say that the only time I ever looked forward to Mondays was when I worked with Chris, eagerly anticipating his stories from the weekend. Chris was also so caring and generous - he would always have your back and be willing to help a friend in need. I will miss him very much. I hope he’s in a better place where he can serve up great food to as many people as possible, with no COVID restrictions. Rest In Peace my friend

I worked with Chris first at Maritz Research, and then at GfK. He and I had a nice IM thing, where he would call me out (on behalf of the US) about stupid, infuriating things down here, on behalf of all Canadians. Often when Trump would do something even more stupid than normal, I’d have an IM from Chris, asking WTF downstairs neighbors?? Today, Chris would have IM’d something like FINALLY, you got that jerk out of office. I will miss those notes.
His warmth, sense of humor, intellect and passions were stand out. I’m shocked and saddened by this news. I’m hoping he has an easel and paints so he can render beautiful works forever, among green, growing things.
My deepest condolences to Chris’ family and friends.

Even through the past few years we've only been in touch sporadically, I always found comfort that you were there. I'm so glad that we were at least able to talk this summer, when the Riverside Cafe was in full swing, to catch up. I'll miss your humour, your stories from your life adventure and most of all your friendship. I hope there are some happy people up there awaiting the great feast you will be preparing for them!

Chris was a thoughtful and fun colleague, who was memorable for his unique set of skills and positive personality. We shared many good times and laughter while working together at GfK. We were always entertained and often impressed by his stories about life, his experience overseas and his latest projects, whether they be about woodworking, his culinary creations or his paintings. Chris, we will miss you and may you rest in peace.

Very saddened to hear. Chris had a wry sense of humour and would always try to make the room comfortable with his funny stories and experiences. We worked together a number of years and he was passionate about his craft and extremely loyal to his colleagues and clients. In most recent times he shared his enthusiasm for his painting and gardening and to someone who didn't know Chris, you wouldn't realize that he was also great researcher and consultant. Gone too soon and may he rest in peace. Angelo.

I met Chris in high school and he was without a doubt a great friend and confident. We were a tight knit group of friends. There were a few parties over the years (Mary Rutherford's, Junior Farmers dances and I recall toilet papering his house and saran wrapping a toilet seat) We had a lot of laughs! Heaven definitely received one of the good ones. May you rest in peace and may your family find comfort in your beautiful memories.

Roger , Bonnie ,Ron and Jay,
My sincerest and deepest sympathies on Chris's passing .
I spent many ,many years playing hockey and attending elementary school with "Fred" as we called him on our hockey teams and later when we both played for Port Elgin. We also went to Huronia Hockey school together at Pike Lake in the summer.
I last had a beverage with Fred in Guelph when he was in university and I was in college in Kitchener. It was along night that night.
He was a GREAT GUY , solid team mate , hockey leader as he usually captain of our Tara teams and just a genuine person. I believe there may have been the odd hockey party at the Thorne farm as well.
Nothing but GREAT memories and he was a TRUE friend that I often thought of through the years.
May you fill the net in the big rink in the sky and know you left the world a better place .
RIP Freddy !

Chris was a wonderful guy with a great sense of humour and lots of talent in the kitchen and with the paint brush and his amazing paintings. So glad I have some of his work.
So there I was….. we used to try to out do each other every morning with a ”so there I was story” as our offices were opposite each other – Chris always had the best ones (and thanks for the tie order from China.)
I enjoyed teaching with Chris our Entrepreneurship courses here in Qatar and the laughs we had together as we got things sorted along with Jacques and moved the courses and students forward.
The students loved Chris as he was warm and engaging and loved to laugh and made learning fun. My wife Sandi and I have fond memories of his Aussie Day cook-a-thon chicken, duck, beef, lamb, vegetables etc. - he just threw something together – amazing chef.
We shared a love of Negroni and music and Chris will be missed by so many. Thinking of your family Chris and condolences. Sorry for your loss. I looked forward to the banter on Facebook with Dad at Riverside Bar and Grill.
RIP brother – we will have a Negroni together again one day.

Where do I start? It was a blessing having Chris as an instructor of mine at CNA-Q. Chris was one of many instructors that truly wanted us to succeed, he treated us like his family. Each class was more entertaining than the other, we would share dad jokes, favorite songs, or even a little bit of gossip. He never failed to put a smile on our faces after each class. He managed to make me look forward going to his classes, especially when I would be having a bad day. When quarantine kicked in, we held zoom calls with the class at least once a week where he would share his cooking skills and art ( he was really talented by the way). It was a pleasure getting to know him. My deepest condolences to his friends and family. May he Rest In Peace.

A kind soul, a brilliant educator, a fun-loving entertaining personality, and life of the party... Mr. Chris was it all. I had the pleasure of being his student at his time as a marketing instructor at the College of the North Atlantic Qatar. One of my best memories of him is our first interaction when I mentioned in passing that I, too, enjoyed painting. I mentioned that watercolor was my favorite medium, to which Chris replied that he wanted to try watercolor too. And so, a day or two later, he comes to class and hands me a watercolor painting. I was so in awe of this heartwarming gesture. The painting to this day lives in my room. He offered to teach me other mediums after class hours, and was incredibly supportive of every artwork I created. My admiration for him transcended beyond art. His incredible personality and witty humor made every lesson with him something to look forward to.
I remember shifting to online learning when the pandemic began, and how hard Chris worked so hard to keep us engaged. I remember his love for music, how fond he was of cooking, and how much he enjoyed playing Kahoot with us.
He will forever live on in our memories, and the impact he had on us will live on too. So glad to have known him for the short period of time that life allowed.
Deepest condolences to his loved ones.

Sending the warmest hugs and love to Chris’s closest family members and friends.
Chris was my instructor at CNA-Q, and I had the pleasure of meeting him, being taught by him, and learning from him. His impact on his students ripples through our abilities to make his jokes and sing his favorite songs. His funny-bone legacy lives on through us and those who knew him. Sure some of the jokes were outdated and “dad-jokes” if you will, but he loved them.
Lockdown in Qatar at the beginning was difficult for everyone-- from the actual isolation, to COVID anxiety. Chris did his best to keep himself busy as well as his students. He made each online class as personable as possible and showed us young adults how to learn by having fun.
He sent me this a while back
“Just to shine a little light and share a smile, I remembered this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FzCWLOHUes&feature=youtu.be “ Its Chicago's - Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
He would always acknowledge the little things about people and his consideration for others made him who he was. Thank you Chirs, for being a part of my academic career and a piece of my life.
My most genuine and humble condolences <3

I am extremely saddened to receive this news. My condolences to the Thorne family. I had the pleasure of getting to know Chris when he joined our faculty team in the Marketing Program in our School of Business Management. Chris was greatly appreciated by those who had the pleasure to work with him. He was a good colleague, faculty team player and an even greater friend. A consummate entertainer with stories and jokes, Chris discovered a newfound love for art while here in Doha, Qatar, and was quite prolific with his works which now adorn the halls and offices of colleagues. I really appreciated Chris's tremendous wit and thoroughly enjoyed the humor he shared with everyone in his Facebook posts. The father son banters always brought a smile to my face and I knew I was in the great virtual presence of Chris. This is a staggering loss for Roger and the immediate and extended Thorne family and you should know that you are in our thoughts and prayers today. We are all in a less happy place today but your family and all of Chris's friends from around the world will be forever sustained by the memories of the fun times we had in his company. RIP Chris
