“My dad, George Harris always referred to my cousin Barbie as “Boo”. I didn’t know where this had come from so thank you for this history. She was Barbie ......to me. Her hospitalization was folklore ......to me, as I only remember, being 8 years younger, of a red headed girl always staying close to home, close to her mom Aunt Marg, while I and Dougie were out running the hood in London (Alan you were too old and Susie too young) Barbie stuck close to Marg in my memory. She grew into an independent adult, I remember hearing of a boyfriend, an apartment and continuing to forge her independence through her dedicated support. My dad always looked forward to his visits with Barbie. He would often tell me about these visits and his pleasure at razzing her until she was smiling and laughing and giving it right back. We must all remember that smile. Once on her face, it was difficult to get it off. My dad loved those days and she was dear to him because he talked about his visits often.
