Obituary of James William Martin Sr.
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father LCol James William (Scotty) Martin on Saturday December 18 at the age of 95 (2 June 1926-18 December 2021) while residing at Parkwood Institute for Veterans.
Scotty was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Ester nee Mann and 2 of his 3 sons Duncan Edward Martin and Rodrick Thomas Martin and is survived by his eldest son James William Martin and his grandson also James William Martin of Vancouver and Scottys half brother David Martin of London.
Scotty remarried to Isabel (McIntyre) and gained a new family of step son Alex, Mark, and Stuart along with step daughters Diane and Joanne and step grand daughter Paisley.
Scotty had an illustrious career in the armed forces having served full time from 1943 to 1973 with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He served in the second world war in the UK ,the Korean war in the 1950s and with the International Control Commission in Vietnam in 1968. Upon his retirement from full time service he remained associated with the Military by joining the reserves where he eventually attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
Scotty also received the Meritorious Service Award from the Govenor General for distinguished service.
Scotty has been cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life held on a date to be determined.
