Obituary of Irene Marie Psotka
Irene Trudel (Psotka)
November 15, 1964 - September 19, 2022
It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Irene. She passed suddenly after a brief but intense battle with cancer, in the loving presence of her husband Guy, in the comfort of her home in Shrewsbury, ON at 57 years young.
Born in Simcoe, ON to German immigrants (Joseph and Theresa Psotka), Irene was the youngest of 5 siblings Reinhard (Sandra), Ingrid (Doug), Karen (Glenn) and Ron (Fran) and she spent much of her childhood helping and getting out of helping, as the youngest on the family tobacco farm in St.Williams, ON. Irene had a variety of work experiences from TDS to Toyotetsu, but she would tell you her true passion in each endeavor was the friends she made along the way. She was a friend who would laugh, cry and empathize with you at all the right moments. In 2017 she married the love of her life, Guy Trudel, and their devotion to one another was the joy of her life. Another obvious joy was her 18 nieces and nephews and 24 greats, almost all of which ended up in her wedding party. Irene would have jumped at the opportunity to proudly tell you each of their names and birthdates in the right order.
Irene had an infectious and immediately recognizable laugh that could both fill and clear out any room. It is something she will most be remembered for; a laugh so filled with joy, delight and genuine love for everyone around her. Irene lived with a passion for exploring and enjoying nature. You could often find her outdoors; riding long country blocks on her bicycle, cutting through waves in her kayak, making her own paths on a hiking trail or diving into a lake - no matter the temperature. She took every opportunity to include and invite others on her amazing adventures, whether traveling across the world or enjoying a local amusement park. Irene loved and adored animals, especially her many beloved cats and dogs. She was a passionate woman who stood up for what she believed in, and was ok to ruffle feathers from time to time. Irene lived frugally, but was never driven by money. She loved the simplicity of enjoying meals and conversations; freely sharing her love, time and possessions with others any chance she got.
The world is a better place for her kindness, generosity and passion for her friends and family. Irene would be the first to humbly admit her imperfections but she was filled with hope, joy and peace because of her belief and trust in Jesus as the author and perfecter of her faith. It’s with this assurance that we know she is no longer suffering but invited into the Father’s peace and rest. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
In lieu of a memorial service, Irene would encourage us to gather with loved ones, enjoy a meal together and laugh out loud as you fondly remember the impact she had on your life.
