Dear Mrs. Wulff (and family).....I met you when I was just a little girl. My Mom and Dad remember you, Guenter and the kids from Westbury Crescent. Who would have thought that years later I would end up working with Karen, not even knowing that we had been neighbours and playmates when we were little kids. Once we realized the connection I was fortunate enough to reconnect with most of the Wulff family. Mr. Wulff was quiet and sweet but always with a twinkle in his eye. You could always see the love that he had for all of you. He knew how lucky he was to have found the love of his life and to share with her such a family! His kindness and love of animals was admirable...something that his daughters have inherited. I know that you all miss him terribly, but I am certain that he is still with you....looking down on you with that same look of love, and with that same twinkle. xo

Helga and I have known Guenter and Lilo for over 40 years and it is our honour to write a tribute in memory of a true friend. To Lilo and all members of Guenter's family, we share your sadness and loss. There are no adequate words to describe the loss of a dear husband, father and Opa and at times like these we can only hope that our memories of happier times will help us through this time of sorrow. Although Guenter was not a man of many words, he was a man of strong principles and had amazing qualities. Having Guenter as a friend meant that you had a friend for life. He always stood up for what he believed to be right. He was gentle, compassionate and always ready to offer a helping hand. He had an amazing sense of humour and was always ready with a quiet little joke when the time was right. We will all remember his big ear to ear smile. Guenter was very proud of all his family and especially Lilo - the love of his life. Guenter, it was an honour to have known you and to have shared some of life's incredible journey with you. You were a very special person and your memory will remain with us for the rest of our lives. We will all miss you
Helga and Bill.

Guenter endured many dramatic experiences in his life such as: the loss of the family farm in East Prussia in the Second World War. At sixteen he was split from the family when they fled, he was wounded by shrapnel, made a miraculous recovery, rejoined the family in Braunschweig through simple coincidence and final emigration to Canada. Most people do not know his history because Guenther was a ‘get on with it and don’t look back’ man.
Guenther was a quiet and thoughtful presence. No flash, except when Lilo and he dressed for Carnival at the German Club, in one of those incredibly funny costumes. He moved in measured steps and took great care in whatever project he had in mind. Naturally talented as an artisan, (perhaps through his practical experience working as a ‘carni’ in northern Germany) Guenther used his tools to create many whimsical and functional household items; effortlessly.
Lilo and Guenther made the perfect match. Hand in glove they raised a family as they moved about southern Ontario. Everywhere they settled, they fulfilled a positive role in that community and role models for their children; offering help whenever needed though in differing manner.
Where Lilo is the no-nonsense-roll-up-your-sleeves-and-dig-in type, Guenther employed ‘vell, let’s just think about this’ who, as the master carpenter, measured out the length and breadth of the project and then performed with his own calculated speed and tools. And between the two methods they always provided for others well beyond expectation.
Guenther was the only grandfather our three children knew and every Christmas the wooden-puzzle Rudolph takes pride of place at the front window of our house in Stuttgart; a project of Guenther’s made that much more meaningful now, as a symbol of his spiritual presence.
Distance means that our collective memories of Guenther’s life can be found in the innumerable images of: the cottage days in Bayfield, the upstairs-downstairs apartment in London Towers, and sunny holidays in the Dominican Republic. In addition there are the memories of the visits to Canada, Cuba, Nepal and various places in Germany. We all treasure the memories these pictures conjure up. Those were the happy times filled with laughter and adventure; how we will remember him.
We were so sad to learn of Guenther’s passing. It was particularly painful not being able to offer personal support from such a distance; but comfort came with the knowledge that he had enjoyed the company of devoted family members and close friends who rallied to support Lilo with phone calls, hospital visits and final painful decisions.
We mourn Guenther’s passing but celebrate having being part of his life.
We extend heartfelt sympathy to Lilo, Pam, Karen, Ruby, Rene, and Brigitte and Bob Prentice in their loss.
With love and many hugs,
Rony, Maryellen, Rosa, Jesse and Vincent Liebheit

Through my friendship with Pamela we have grown to Love the Wulff family! Lilo and Guenter have shown me how special it is to find your sole mate and how two people can enjoy each others company through life, friends, family and lastly death, with such a bond and closeness. We are so saddened by the passing of Guenter, but know that he is at peace, pain free and with you spiritually whenever you need him.
Our thoughts are with the entire Wulff family during these difficult times!

With great sadness did we hear about the passing of Guenther.
It is not easy to pull up your stakes in your country of birth and immigrate to Canada. The start is very hard and it takes a while until one can speak the language and communicate. Gunther was a very had working and dependable man and he made the very best of it.
Family was his priority and he tried to protect them and be the best husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather he could be.
He was a fun person to be with and I am sure the German Club will dearly miss him.
When he needed care, his loving wife, Lilo, was by his side and I am sure he appreciated it very much, how she cared for him. She was his guardian angle and he felt save and protected in her care. To have his children by his bedside made his suffering a lot easier.
As sad as the news about his passing was, but knowing he no longer is suffering makes it a little bit easier to bear.
He was a very good friend and we include him in our prayers and he will live in our memories forever. He will be truly missed.
We would like to express our deepest symphathies to Lilo and the whole Family.
