I did not know John well but he made a very positive impact nonetheless. On several visits to a family member at Parkwood, John walked me in or walked me out or walked me down for a coffee. We chatted and he listened and he made me smile at a very difficult time. John was a gift to those who met him. I know that he made a difference in our family. My sincerest condolences to his family.

We are very sad to hear the passing of John. He was a lovely man who made my Dads day visiting him in palliative care. John talked to my Dad about soccer and Scotland. Our condolences to the family.

Always loved when John would visit the NICU through his volunteer work with RMH. He would bring the parents and staff much needed coffee, tea, and smiles. Sometimes if you were lucky you would get a little story or tip. Rest in peace, thank you for all that you did.

Q: How did you meet Alexander?
A: I was a RN who worked in the NICU in London at Victoria hospital. I’m so sorry for your loss. We were always greeted with a warm smile and a friendly joke when he was volunteering with the Frog cart. I remember him fondly. A welcomed kind smile on hard days.

We are so sorry to hear this news. When my mom was in palliative care in 2019/20, John was an absolute Godsend to our family. His unobtrusive gentle kindness and selfless generosity meant the world to us and we will forever be grateful for the way he touched our lives. Our sincere condolences from the Wettlaufer family in Newfoundland.

We were deeply saddened to see the news of John's passing. Our family had the privilege of meeting John when our wife/mom was in the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood, and during the 11 weeks that she spent there we got to know him quite well. He was happy to do any task that would help out, always asked how everyone was doing...and always took the time to listen. He truly cared about everyone. Our family will never forget the kindness, compassion and friendship that he showed us during that very difficult time. Please accept our prayers and sincere condolences on the loss of such a wonderful man. Sincerely, the Wettlaufer and McCart families.

I worked with John at LHSC and he was a true gentleman and a terrific co-worker. Co-incidentally, we first met John through Parkwood Palliative Care. He was so kind to my mother-in-law and was quick with a kind word and a cup of tea. Sincere sympathy to Kaye and the Family.

The deepest of condolences from our family. We met John at Palliative Care Parkwood in September while my mother was there. He was so incredibly kind to mom and the rest of the family. He was fondly nicknamed Tarzan by mom and he brought her joy and laughter in her final days and support to the family in the final hours. Our hearts are saddened once again sending prayers and sympathy from the Stillwell family. The world has lost a wonderful gentleman.
