this is Robert, Herb's landlord at the time of his passing. of all the tenants in the last 2 decades Herb was the one closest to my age interests and abilities, which is why we got along so well in the all too brief time he was here.
l found him to be a dignified, principled and generous individual and more patient about a lot of things than some. for instance miscommunications and technical glitches kept delaying the point when the television feed finally functioned in his room. at the same time when it was discovered my propane tank emptied prematurely we promptly headed to the Canadian Tire and he paid for a backup tank. He also paid for a yard of top grade garden soil for landscaping and if it were not for his assistance the severe dip in the backyard walk would still ice over and create a hazard in winter.
This is all explained by Herb's generous nature plus he was a stylish dresser lots of fine leather tops and hat to match when he went out to socialize.
The true mark of our developing friendship was the plan we talked about when l sold this place we were going to in the process find accommodations combined with shop floor space and start a specialized woodworking shop since between the 2 of us we had all the necessary equipment, experience and financing.
Herb remains the only tenant ever l chose to offer at one point, large discounted rent until the room he wished to take became available. He far more than reciprocated. l continue and will miss this decent, hard working and generous individual for a long time. thank you Herb for everything, and be assured l am and will continue to take care of your puppy Askher like she was my own.
