Obituary of George Jovichevich
George Jovichevich, aged 78, died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 5, 2018. George will never be forgotten by those who knew him. He lived his life to the fullest, doing exactly what he wanted to do. George played football for the London Lords for 13 years during which time he met Mary, his wife of 54 years with whom he shared two children, Bronco (Corene) and Jill (Tim Potter). Together, they shared his enthusiasm for sports, jokes, laughs, his love of life and sense of adventure. George was a passionate traveler to many parts of the world and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean on his maiden voyage. He loved great food and was an outstanding cook. Even more than the food that was shared at their dinner table, visitors loved the entertainment that he and Mary provided: his sense of humour, his witty storytelling (not always appropriate), and the many riddles with which he would challenge his guests. His grandchildren (Erica, Kelsey, Alexa, Logan, and Brady) loved to play his trivia games, where the winner usually came away with some sort of prize money. George loved to play poker and tennis, a passion he shared with his brother, Peter (Kim, children Andrea and Heather). When not on the court or playing golf, George worked for the City of London as a social worker. George and his best friend, Dan Charyk, both originally from Sarnia, also looked forward to their weekly visits and chances to reminisce.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bendheim, Dr. Hamilton, the nurses and personal support workers who provided outstanding care during the past few weeks.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date. For those who would like to salute his life, please raise a glass of Crown Royal and remember his frequent ode to life, “If the train stops here, it’s been a great ride."
