Ross Viner posted a condolence

I attempted to send this message earlier, however, it was returned. I hope you receive it this time.
Hello,
My name is Ross Viner, and I worked hundreds of shows at the C B C along with “ Your Ross”. I just wanted to send my condolences to all his family and friends and say what a great man he was.
I think that my years at the C B C coincide with Ross’s, and I just want to tell you how much he was liked by his fellow workers. Ross was a quiet man and he always had his shot on camera three ready when it was required, never a problem. He always acknowledged you when you saw him in the morning, noon or even at night, just a little smile and a good word for all. We worked together a lot, along with another top notch cameraman called Ross Menzies, we had a little joke that when we were all three were on the mutual inter com system, if the director did not specify the Ross he was talking to, then we all answered, and of course the director did not quite know what was going on. Your Ross worked on all types of shows, some small and others very large, and as I said before, the shot on camera three was always there, and correct.
Of course you as family know what he was like, I just wanted to let you know that his fellow workers appreciated him also. He was one of the best.
Regards, and once again my condolences on your great loss.
Ross Viner

Dear Beryl, Leslie, Angie and Families,
Since the day of Ross's passing Gary and I have been living with an enormous sense of loss and profound pain. Our world has changed. Ross has left us for now after fifty years of friendship, love and precious memories that we will cherish forever. Ross, with his special smile, and sense of humour was and will always be one of the finest, gentle, kind, quiet, modest and treasured people that we have had in our lives. He had the respect of all who knew him and would never hurt or speak ill of anyone. Ross left a wonderful legacy of goodness, empathy, patience, humility and the extraordinary gift of helping and giving to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Beryl, you and Ross have always been more family than friends - before and during children becoming part of all of our lives. Our children got along famously, affording us the opportunity for adult evenings while they happily entertained themselves. And we were together for their weddings - it seemed a perfect blend always. For our two, a visit to Aunt Beryl and Uncle Ross's and Leslie and Angie was always an event to be enjoyed and looked forward to. So, so many memories, indelible ones, good times, fun and laughter, I think I could write a book of these many memories dear, dear Beryl. And you must be so proud of the exceeding and obvious love that Ross felt for you, your children, and their families. He left behind a family and life he could be so contented with and so proud of. A Celebration of Life is the perfect good-bye. His was a life so well lived. We will love and miss him forever. Please know how very much we sympathize with you and your entire family at this time of loss and grieving. We love all of you so very, very much. Love always, Karen and Gary.

Ross was one of the best mentors I had at CBC. It was always a pleasure to work with him because he was such a great person. I've never seen anyone manoeuvre a camera on a pedestal like him he could make it through a whole room of furniture without knocking anything over. Working with him on Mr. Dress up was a real privilege because he was always willing to teach his craft and he had a great sense of humour. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Worked with Ross for 30 years. A really good guy and pleasure to work beside. There are few of his calibre and I am glad to have met one.
G'bye, Ross. Rest in peace.

To the Murray family: Ross was a highly skilled, talented and much-admired camera operator at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto. He was hardworking, dedicated, disciplined and indefatigable. Ross was generous with his knowledge and, unknowingly, led by example. His colleagues respected him ever more for his character, his kind gentleness and his sense of humour. Ross was singular, one-of-a-kind and a true gentleman. He will be missed. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

I remember when I started at CBC. Ross was a cameraman and I a young budding lad ready to take on the world. I believe I met Ross on the set of "Front Page Challenge" at Studio 4 on Young St in the fall of 1975. This was the start to a long and fun relationship with Ross.
We did hundreds of TV shows together over the years. Of note where many Stratford productions, football games, a trip to California to Disneyland to do an "Irish Rover" special, many show under the direction of Norm Campbell. We always had Mike, Tommy, George, Dave, Ron at our sides. The list goes on-and-on.
To Ross's family my deepest sympathies. Ross was a kind and gentle person and we have lost one of the great ones.
I wish I could come and share some of the many stories I have but am unable to attend. I will be thinking of you and of Ross on that day!
With kindest regards and deepest sympathy.

We have been best friends with Beryl and Ross over 25 years.
We share two incredible grandchildren Ryan and Megan.
We have lost our BFF,this incredible man lived his life for his family ,the most
thoughtful,gentle and loving man .
It is an honour to be a friend of Beryl and Ross,to know him is to love him
with his soft spoken ways and dry sense of humour ,always there for family
and friends,totally selfless.
Regardless of how poorly he was feeling the past few years,he never missed any
opportunity to attend anything his beloved grandchildren were in.
He was such a brave soul, never sharing his pain, always till the end had a smile .
This man demonstrated to all who new him honesty, love and patience.
He truly epitomized Greatness in every way.
Rest in peace beloved friend,we will meet again,Thank you for the extreme honour of
sharing your life with us. You have left this world but have left such a legacy of love.
We are all better people having you in our lives.Diane and Cliff Jackson
