I met Carolyn in 1973, in Paris, Ontario, when she was 26, and I was 18. We both worked at Norwich Pharmacal, in Paris, but really became acquaintances when I was playing piano at the Arlington Hotel on a Friday after work. I looked down from the piano on the stage, and she was gazing up at me. She asked me to play the song, "Tammy", which I immediately did, to her delight. We dated passionately for a month, she told me about her sociopathic ex husband, Danny, and that she had a son, but I didn't care.
But then she dumped me for her ex boyfriend, Mit Rayner. That hurt.
She still pursued me for a month in Woodstock and Tavistock after that, but I eventually turned her away. Still, to my regret, 4 marriages later. We had even gone out ring picking in Burford, early in our relationship.
I met her again, 14 years later, in 1987, at the Eaton's Centre in Brantford, where she had her young son, JR, in tow, and then her husband, John, when they came to see me perform at The Olde School Restaurant in Brantford. But, I just couldn't convert to the ridiculous JW nonsense.
But, we once again became friends during the '90's, meeting her granddaughter many times, and even viewing her somewhat spooky doll collection at her home in Paris. She lamented her weight gain, and even gave me an old Polaroid of herself from 1973, when she was slim, and, quite honestly, very stunning.
The last time I saw her was in 1999, before I moved to Cambridge to move in with my 3rd and future 3rd ex wife.
Carolyn emailed me in 2021, telling me that she was in ill health, but also recounting our initial meeting at the Arlington Hotel, when our eyes met.
I never heard from her again. She was my first great love. And, also a silly ass, very funny, Holly Golightly personality. In 1973, when we had our affair, she would alternate between a brunette and blonde wig. I was so naive, I didn't know or realize.
I always missed her, and now, forever will. But, I never knew her real name was "Alice"!? Eek! She was, and is, "Carolyn". I'll play "Tammy" for you. But, I don't think you're going to be one of the "144,000". Maybe try Scientology next time.(LOL!) And, many "Butterfly Kisses" to you(your specialty) in Valhalla. Miss you, Carolyn.

Some of my best childhood memories involve the Mallon Family. Carolyn was the most kind and loving person, always willing to open her house to a bunch of rowdy (and hungry) boys, treating us all like her adoptive sons. I can not wait to see her again in Paradise, complete free from the weight of all that she had to deal with in this world. One more thing to look forward to!
May Jehovah lovingly support the family and friends.
